Luca Brecel continued to show signs of a return to form as he beat Graeme Dott 4-1, and one more win would give the Belgian his first ranking quarter-final of the season. Breaks of 101, 82 and 75 helped Brecel to set up a match with Tom Ford.

"I have felt good in the last couple of tournaments, I am in a good place and confidence is coming back," said Brecel. "I am pretty close to the way I played at the Crucible. There have been times this season when I have not wanted to turn up to tournaments. If you don't want to be there, you're never going to win, it has been a struggle. I have tried to turn that around and be more positive. We have Saudi, China and the World coming up, there is a lot to play for."

Ford kept his excellent season going with a 4-1 win over Barry Hawkins. Marco Fu reached the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time since the 2020 European Masters by beating Daniel Wells 4-2 with top runs of 122 and 113. The Hong Kong ace he now faces Martin O'Donnell, who made a 110 to round off a 4-2 victory over Anthony Hamilton.

Dominic Dale made a 122 in a 4-1 success over Stan Moody, setting up a Welsh derby with Jak Jones who beat Hossein Vafaei 4-2. China's Fan Zhengyi top scored with 97 as he saw off Aaron Hill 4-1 and he will meet Elliot Slessor.
