Teenager Robbie McGuigan is set to turn professional for the first time after beating Craig Steadman 5-4 in the final of the EBSA European Championship in Sarajevo.

Northern Ireland's 19-year-old McGuigan earns a tour card for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. He has already shown his potential by winning matches at several WST events and will now have the chance to join the circuit.

McGuigan came through a series of close matches, beating Daniel Womersley 4-3 in the last 32, Shachar Ruberg 4-3 in the last 16, Iulian Boiko 4-3 in the quarter-finals and Florian Nuessle 4-3 in the semis. In the final against experienced Steadman he was 3-2 down then made a break of 128 in frame six. Steadman regained the lead, but McGuigan took the last two frames for victory.
