Updates from the final of the Cazoo World Championship as Kyren Wilson faces Jak Jones. First to 18 frames on Monday night will take the trophy...
Frame 32
KYREN WISON IS THE CAZOO WORLD CHAMPION! Jones made it hard from him to get over the line, but Wilson secures the title by an 18-14 scoreline. Trailing 29-4, Jones goes for a risky double to a centre pocket, and is unlucky to see the red come back to baulk. Wilson keeps his composure with a break of 42, the most important of this life, and he has achieved what every player dreams of. Congratulations Kyren!
Wilson 18-14 Jones
Frame 31
This is a classic slow burner, now bubbling up into something special. Three in a row for Jones and he's got all the momentum. Wilson trails 53-22 when he goes for a tough pot on the penultimate red, misses by a few inches and leaves Jones the chance to draw withing three frames. Anyone lucky enough to have a ticket for this session is loving it now.
Wilson 17-14 Jones
Frame 30
There's still a £147,000 jackpot up for grabs if either player can make two 147s in the final, and Jones has a cracking effort at a maximum, potting 12 reds with blacks before missing the 13th red down the side cushion on 96. He's still alive, Wilson is still on the brink.
Wilson 17-13 Jones
Frame 29
Whatever the result, Jones can be proud of the spirit he has shown, particularly from 7-0 down. He ensures the final session will go to an interval with a smooth break of 67. Wilson and his brother Taylor head to the dressing room for a last pep talk, as glory beckons.
Wilson 17-12 Jones
Frame 28
Jones fails to take chances to put pressure on his opponent, and his hopes of a come-back could be slipping away. Leading 46-37, he misses a short range red to a top corner, then Wilson makes 28 before snookering himself on the yellow. After a safety exchange, Jones clears the colours to force a respotted black and has a clear chance to pot it, but it rattles in the jaws of a baulk corner. Wilson then flukes the black off three cushions, a very handy piece of luck which leaves him one frame away from Crucible history.
Wilson 17-11 Jones
Frame 27
After losing position leading 16-0, Wilson attempts a tough long blue to a baulk corner and leaves it in the jaws. Jones cleverly pots a long red off the black which is close to a top corner, and goes on to make 105, his first century of the match and third of the tournament. Loud cheers from the Crucible crowd - they want to see the underdog fighting back.
Wilson 16-11 Jones
Frame 26
It's a monumental task for Jones as he seeks to become the first player to overturn a five-frame deficit in the final session and win the title. Make that six - as Wilson wins the opening frame. Leading 35-5, Jones overcuts the pink to a centre pocket, handing Wilson the table. He makes 34 then gets the better of a safety battle on the last red and clears to extend his lead. The Warrior needs two more for the crown.
Wilson 16-10 Jones
Third Session
Frames 18-25
Frame 25
Has Wilson weathered the storm and set course for home? The last two frames of this session have been vital, moving from 13-10 to 15-10. He twice misses reds when among the balls, but each time Jones fails to punish him. Trailing 54-9 with three reds left, Jones has a chance to snatch the frame and boost his hopes going into tonight's conclusion, but wobbles the yellow in the jaws of a centre pocket. Wilson wraps it up and he will be relieved to have shared the session 4-4. They are back at 7pm, the Englishman needing just three more frames to become the 23rd player to lift the trophy at the Crucible.
Wilson 15-10 Jones
Frame 24
Trailing 19-1, Jones attempts a risky long red, but misses a top corner and hands Wilson the chance to make a nerve-settling 87. He's just four frames away from the title. Last one of the session coming up.
Wilson 14-10 Jones
Frame 23
Inevitably the tension will build as the winning post comes into view. Wilson makes 22 before a red to centre hits the far jaw, and again it's costly as Jones counters with 73. He has won four of the six frames so far today, and if he add the last two then it will be 13-12 going into the last session. Game on!
Wilson 13-10 Jones
Frame 22
It has been a feature of Jones' performance in this tournament that every time an opponent has threatened to run away from him, he has clung on and kept them within range. Wilson has a chance for 14-8 but under-cuts a tricky black on 17, and Jones responds with a beautifully-crafted run of 90 to close the gap.
Wilson 13-9 Jones
Frame 21
Whatever you do, don't hit the blue. Jones makes the classic error from the break-off, and it costs him. Wilson is left with a mid-range red, slots it home and goes on to make 83, to regain the five-frame cushion he had at the start of play. A few more pots and he could have had a fifth century of the final, just two short of Judd Trump's record set in 2019. Wilson has scored heavily in this match, with four tons and seven more breaks over 50.
Wilson 13-8 Jones
Frame 20
Vital moment for Wilson as he wins his first frame of the day. Jones has a clear chance to keep his fight-back going, but misses a red to a top corner when trailing 17-7, and crashes through the pack, leaving the balls well places for his opponent. Wilson capitalises with 50 and he's one step close to the target of 18.
Wilson 12-8 Jones
Frame 19
When Jones was 7-0 down yesterday, not many fans would have predicted that he would battle his way right back into the match. But he's just three frames behind now. After a safety exchange, he bravely goes for a tough red to a centre pocket and it drops, setting up a break of 59. Not much seems to faze the Welshman, even losing that epic black ball frame at the end of last night's session. No one has overturned an overnight five frame deficit to win the title....can Jones write a new chapter in Crucible history?
Wilson 11-8 Jones
Frame 18
Into the final day, and Jones gets just the start he needs. Wilson is in first and makes 32 before running out of position and plays safe. Jones converts a tremendous long red and goes on to make 64 which proves enough to reduce his deficit to four frames.
Wilson 11-7 Jones
Second Session
Frames 9-17
Frame 17
Crucible drama at its best! The last frame of the night looks to be going Jones' way when he makes an excellent break of 64 to lead by 29 points on the yellow. Wilson gets the snooker he needs then has a chance to clear, but misses a tough pink. It comes down to a long safety exchange on the final black, and eventually Jones goes for a double to a baulk corner, but leaves it over the pocket, and Wilson knocks it in, pumping his fist as the crowd roar. Huge moment at the end of the first day and Wilson will take a five frame advantage into Monday.
Wilson 11-6 Jones
Frame 16
Jones would have taken this scoreline when he was 7-0 down! A sizzling long red creates the chance, and he goes on to make 90, his highest break of the match so far. He is guranteed to win the session now, but the last of the night is massive...
Wilson 10-6 Jones
Frame 15
This one is in the balance with four reds left until Jones, leading 46-32, converts a thumping long pot to a top corner, and that sets him up for a vital run of 20, sealing the frame by rolling home the last red along the side cushion. The gap is five again, and there are two more to play tonight. Can he win them both?
Wilson 10-5 Jones
Frame 14
The record for the most centuries by one player in the final is seven - set by Judd Trump in 2019 - and Wilson is just three behind that now. A long red sets up a delightful 122, taking his tally of tons today to four, doubling his total for the tournament.
Wilson 10-4 Jones
Frame 13
This is a huge mini-session for Jones as he battles to stay in contention. Leading 57-0, he misses a thin cut on the black, and Wilson has a chance to clear but, on 22, leaves a difficult red in the jaws of a top corner. Jones wraps up the frame to boost his hopes. Four more to play tonight.
Wilson 9-4 Jones
Frame 12
This could be a very significant moment, as Wilson has taken back that momentum. Jones has a frame winning chance but, leading 41-18, runs out of position and plays safe. He later misses a long red, and Wilson responds with an excellent 60 clearance. The English cueman will enjoy his interval beverage having re-established the six frame gap he had at the start of the session.
Wilson 9-3 Jones
Frame 11
Important frame for Wilson as he ends a run of losing three in a row. Jones takes a risk by going for a tough red to a baulk corner early in the frame, but misses by several inches and that proves costly as Wilson makes 125, his third century of the final and seventh of the tournament.
Wilson 8-3 Jones
Frame 10
The fight-back is on! Jones makes 28 before missing the black, but gets another chance after Wilson botches a safety, and adds 52. That three frames in a row for the under-dog. The longest match in professional snooker often produces momentum swings one way and the other, and for now it's Jones with his sails aloft.
Wilson 7-3 Jones
Frame 9
First chance tonight goes to Wilson and he splits the pack open on 14 but is left only with a tough red to a baulk corner, which misses the target. Jones is left with the balls at his mercy and takes advantage with a well-crafted 75. Just two frames on the board for the Welshman but he'll be feeling much better now than he did at 7-0. There are nine frames tonight - so if he can win the session 5-4 he'll be just 11-6 down overnight.
Wilson 7-2 Jones
First Session
Frames 1-8
Frame 8
He's done it! Jones gets the loudest cheer of the afternoon as he celebrates a break of 65 which is enough to trouble the scoreboard and avoid the session whitewash. Wilson earlier had first chance but missed a mid-range red on 10, one of his few errors so far. Still, the Warrior will be very content to have opened up a six frame cushion early in the final. They resume at 7pm for nine more.
Wilson 7-1 Jones
Frame 7
Again there's an early chance for Jones but, leading 11-0, he narrowly fails to split the pack off the yellow. Wilson plays a clever shot off a side cushion to pot a red into a top corner, and again gets a favourable rub of the baize as he knocks the black into perfect position. A break of 90 and Wilson has equalled that seven in a row from Parrott. If he takes the last frame then we are talking 1985 and Steve Davis going 8-0 up on Dennis Taylor.
Wilson 7-0 Jones
Frame 6
The balls are just falling awkwardly for Jones. He has half a chance at a red but it barely goes past the brown to a baulk corner, and his attempt clips the brown. Wilson is left with a plant, which he converts, and goes on to make 125, striding around the table with calm confidence. Two more frames in this session and if Wilson takes the next it will be the first time that a player has gone 7-0 up in the final since John Parrott against Jimmy White in 1991.
Wilson 6-0 Jones
Frame 5
Wilson makes 22 before missing a mid-range red, and Jones has a chance to counter, but his opening red doesn't find the target, and he soon finds himself further behind as Wilson compiles a run of 62. Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live this morning, Shaun Murphy said that if Jones wins the tournament it will be one of the greatest sporting shocks of all time. If that's going to happen he needs a foothold soon.
Wilson 5-0 Jones
Frame 4
Sweetly struck mid-range red from Wilson and he's back among the balls, making 66 before missing a tough black. But that's enough for 4-0 and Jones has 18 minutes now to compose himself. Can he get a frame on the board after the interval? In 2016, Mark Selby went 6-0 up on Ding Junhui, then Ding recovered to within a frame at 10-9. These finals can see huge momentum shifts and that's what Jones will be hoping for.
Wilson 4-0 Jones
Frame 3
First chance for Jones but he makes just 13 before missing an awkward red with the rest. Wilson looks to be cruising to 3-0 until he rattles the blue in the jaws of a top corner on 47. But Jones can't capitalise, potting just one red before over-cutting a very tough black, and this time his opponent punishes him to go further ahead.
Wilson 3-0 Jones
Frame 2
Chances for both players, but it's Wilson who takes it to double his lead. Up 60-29, he misses the pink to a centre pocket, giving Jones an opening. The Welshman takes the last two reds, but then narrowly misses a tricky black to a baulk corner, and having gained position on the yellow, he leaves Wilson the chance to add the necessary points.
Wilson 2-0 Jones
Frame 1
Tremendous start for Wilson as a long red sets up a break of 129 to take the opening frame. That's his fifth century of the tournament and will help settle him into the tie, with both players aiming to win the title for the first time.
Wilson 1-0 Jones
