Stephen Hendry hopes that Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson can develop a rivalry to last for years to come.
Speaking on the latest episode of Snooker Club podcast, Hendry said: "You think of the great rivalries like Steve Davis and Alex Higgins, then me and Jimmy White. This could be the start of a really good one. They have been the two dominant players of the season so far.
"There was a bit of needle between them a few years ago. Sometimes a player just annoys you. I had it with Peter Ebdon, he beat me three or four times early in his career. I didn't like the way he played, I had nothing in common with him. He had the pony tail and flash waistcoat and was telling everyone what he was going to do, and it got under a lot of people's skin. It's good for the game. I wonder if Kyren is getting under Judd's skin a bit. Judd won't like someone getting the better of him a few times."
Looking back on the BetVictor Northern Ireland Open, where Wilson beat Trump 9-3 in the final, Hendry added: "That's two big wins for Kyren now. What a season he's having. He was not a prolific winner of titles before, now maybe with the confidence of being World Champion he is moving up a gear and he could to win three or more tournaments each season.
"It's fascinating to see if this continues. I fully expect Judd to keep winning. Will Kyren too? I have to admit that at the start of the season I wouldn't have expected him to win two tournaments, and he's done it already. I'm really impressed by the way he is embracing and enjoying being World Champion. He looks like he's loving it and having fun as well."
