Rob Walker took time out from the snooker action this week to visit Manchester Children's Hospital Oncology ward and spend time with patients undergoing treatment for a variety of cancers.
Rob, who is Master of Ceremonies for the Triple Crown events and a reporter for ITV across the Players Series, was invited to the ward by Sam Price, whose grand-daughter Sorrelle was diagnosed with Leukaemia as a baby and was treated on the ward for three years.
Sam has written a book called 'Small Boat In A Big Ocean' with 90% of the royalties donated to the ward. A copy signed by Ken Doherty and Jimmy White was recently auctioned for over £100. Sam also arranged for local toy shop Smyths Toys to donate 20 mini snooker tables to the children, and these were presented to the ward by Rob and Sorrelle.
"It was an extremely humbling experience to visit the ward and to meet the children and their families who show incredible bravery," said Rob. "And it was inspiring to meet the nurses on the ward and to find out about the amazing work they do. Thanks so much to Sam and Sorrelle for inviting me and for arranging the mini snooker table gifts for the children."
