Mark Allen fired in a spectacular 147 during his second round clash with Chris Wakelin at the Halo World Championship.
The Northern Irishman was fighting against the tide in the face of a stunning display from Wakelin, which saw him lead 10-2. However, Allen went all out for the perfect break in the 13th frame, depositing several improbable shots to keep the run going.
Allen is now in line for a £45,000 payout. There's a £40,000 bonus for a maximum at the Crucible and he's now tied with Jackson Page in the tournament high break standings. Because Page made two 147 breaks in qualifying, Allen is in line for £5,000 of the £15,000 pot.
The 39-year-old becomes the 11th player in Crucible history to make a 147, this break was the 15th maximum to be crafted at the Theatre of Dreams.
It's Allen's fifth career 147 break and his second of the current season. There have now been 217 maximum breaks in the history of professional snooker. Allen becomes the first ever player to have made a 147 in all three Triple Crown events. He made maximums in the UK Championship in 2016 and the Masters in 2024.
The break also sees audience member Brian Nicholls pocket a £25,000 payout courtesy of event betting and casino partner Midnite.
