Stephen Maguire's tremendous run to the final of last week's BetVictor Welsh Open boosted him 18 places up the Johnstone's Paint One-Year Rankings and earned him a place at the World Grand Prix in Hong Kong.
The top 32 on that list have qualified for the Hong Kong event, to run from March 4-9. Maguire earned £45,000 in Wales, jumping from 41st to 23rd. Matthew Selt's run to the last 16 saw him climb from 35th to 31st and book his place in the Far East. Click here for the draw.
The week before the World Grand Prix, it's the World Open in Yushan, which does not count towards the race to Hong Kong, but does count towards qualification for the Sportsbet.io Players Championship in Telford (March 17-23). Only the top 16 on the one-year list will earn a place in Telford, and then only the top 12 graduate to the third and last event in the series, the Sportsbet.io Tour Championship in Manchester (March 31 to April 6).
Mark Selby won the BetVictor Welsh Open, banking the £100,000 top prize. He's up from 12th to fourth and looks certain of a place in all three Players Series events.
In the official Johnstone's Paint World Rankings, Selby climbs one place to third, behind Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson. Maguire is up from 29th to 26th.
The BetVictor Welsh Open was the final event in the 2024/25 BetVictor Home Nations Series, and Neil Robertson topped the rankings to earn the £150,000 bonus. Read more about that here.
There are just four ranking events left in the race to the Crucible, with the top 16 at the end of the Sportsbet.io Tour Championship to earn an automatic place in Sheffield. Robertson is in 16th place, but having failed to turn up to his qualifying match for next week's World Open, he won't be heading to China and the chasing pack have the chance to gain ground. Chris Wakelin, Tom Ford, Ali Carter and Shaun Murphy are all within £19,000 of Robertson so results over the next four events are crucial.
Selby made four centuries in Wales and has now made 55 this season, joint second alongside Jak Jones on the list of ton-makers. Trump didn't enter last week's event so he's still on 74 and needs 26 more over the next five tournaments. The first player to make 100 centuries this season will earn a £100,000 bonus.
