
A press conference was staged in China's Jiangxi Province on Friday to announce that the 2025 'Weide Cup' Snooker World Open will take place from February 23 to March 1 in Yushan, Shangrao, Jiangxi.
Attending the press conference were the China Billiards and Snooker Association, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, Jiangxi Provincial Sports Bureau, Shangrao Municipal Government of Jiangxi Province, Yushan County Government, Xingpai and Jiangxi Weide Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
This tournament is an outstanding event on the WST calendar, and total prize money this year has grown to a record of £825,000. The field of 73 players will include a wide array of snooker's biggest stars including Ding Junhui, Kyren Wilson, Mark Selby, John Higgins, Mark Allen and defending champion Judd Trump. Yushan is known as the Billiards Capital of China and the World Billiards City.
Jason Ferguson, the Chairman of WPBSA, delivered a speech, stating: "Yushan has become one of the players' favourite locations on the World Snooker Tour. Holding this exciting World Open here is the perfect choice."
The press conference officially announced Jiangxi Weide Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. as the exclusive title sponsor.
