Chris Wakelin visited Short Wood Primary School in Telford last week to meet children and help inspire their interest in snooker.

Former Shoot Out champion Wakelin gave a demonstration on a mini Star table to 70 children from Year 6 at the school just a few miles from Telford International Centre. He answered their questions about his career and gave them tips on the basics of the game.

"It was great fun and the children really seemed to really enjoy learning all about snooker," said Wakelin. "That magical moment when you pot your first ball, that can be an inspiration to go and try it again or watch snooker on TV. The more people who take an interest, the more will start playing. It's so important for us to help the next generation to watch and play snooker."
